Do you know that… Exterior’s cleaning of aircraft affects their fuel consumption

Aircraft cleaning is a complex activity that requires attention to details and strict compliance with rules regulated by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). Today, thanks to the specialists by WAS, we will reveal a rather interesting fact—namely, how the external cleaning of an airplane or helicopter affects fuel consumption.
The exterior’s cleaning of an aircraft involves specialized methods for removing various contaminants from the outer surfaces of the machine. These may include dust, soot, insects, or other debris that has accumulated on the fuselage or even in the engines.
For a lot of people, it may come as a surprise that a freshly cleaned aircraft exterior can reduce fuel consumption by up to 0.5%, which is equivalent to nearly half a ton of kerosene. At certain geographic latitudes, external factors such as large amounts of dust, snow, or rain contaminate aircraft surfaces much more heavily. This necessitates more frequent cleaning of the aircraft. If debris is not removed, this leads to increased fuel consumption. Various studies show that external cleaning of an aircraft contributes to a “smoother” airflow.
WAS recommends the following external cleaning methods to reduce fuel consumption:
• So-called “dry wash” techniques, which use a smaller amount of water, are efficient and environmentally friendly;- Robotic cleaning—automated cleaning machines can be up to 80% faster than manual cleaning, further contributing to fuel efficiency;
- Polishing—it protects the aircraft’s paint and provides a smooth, aerodynamic surface. The professionals of WAS have developed their own strategy, thanks to which each client can rely on periodic external cleaning of their aircraft. Specific checklists have been prepared, inspections are carried out, and all EASA regulations are strictly followed.

WAS Reveals: Why Aircraft Cannot Be Cleaned with an Ordinary Household Vacuum Cleaner

In our previous two articles, we introduced you to the newest company in ground handling at Bulgarian airports – World Aviation Solutions (WAS). The start-up began its operations quite successfully and can already boast its first client. Today, however, we will focus on another interesting topic.
D? you know that…
Specialized equipment is used for cleaning aircraft. Household vacuum cleaners simply do not do the job. There are several reasons for this:
• Aviation is a sector governed by strict rules and regulations. This also applies to the equipment used for cleaning aircraft. Such equipment must be approved by the relevant aviation operator before being put into service.
• The equipment must be made of specific materials that help prevent the inevitable formation of corrosion in aircraft. Household vacuum cleaners are often made of materials containing sodium chloride or caustic soda, which could damage certain parts of the aircraft cabin.
• In addition, cleaning equipment must protect delicate aircraft surfaces from damage.
• Sensitivity in interior cleaning: many aircraft require far more powerful machines than standard household vacuum cleaners in order to ensure their interiors are perfectly cleaned and disinfected. Believe it or not, even for this, WAS employees follow a strict checklist and undergo prior training.
• Specialized needs: very often, when cleaning aircraft, WAS uses the so-called “dry wash” method. In some cases, it is necessary not to use water at all—again, in order to avoid damaging certain surfaces.
Although still a young company just entering the aviation sector, WAS knows how to follow the rules and maintain high standards for aircraft cleaning. The company’s employees make no compromises when it comes to quality. This applies not only to aircraft cleaning services, but to all products and services the company offers. -

10 facts that make the profession of “aircraft cleaning” extremely responsible

Have you ever boarded an aircraft cabin operated by an airline and, even after a short flight, found it cluttered with all kinds of trash? Very often, an aircraft has to take off just 30 minutes after it has landed at the next airport. Yet, amazingly, after those 30 minutes the cabin is clean again, as if the aircraft were preparing for its very first flight. No, this is not magic.
The “magic” is actually the work of the skilled employees of the WAS team.
In this article, we will reveal just how much work they truly do to ensure passengers feel satisfied.We present to you 10 facts that make the profession of “aircraft cleaning” a responsible one:
• To become an aircraft cleaner, you must undergo almost all of the training related to airport operations that a ramp agent goes through;
• Aircraft or helicopter cleaning comes in several types – exterior cleaning, interior cleaning, and deep cleaning;
• Deep cleaning of an aircraft is recommended once a month;
• It is an extensive process that requires special attention to detail. Unlike other types of cleaning, deep cleaning takes considerably more time and care from the staff;
• An important part of deep cleaning is disinfection – it is carried out everywhere, on all surfaces of the aircraft;
• All toilets must be cleaned with strong cleaning agents;
• During deep cleaning, special attention is paid to the crew cockpit;
• The exterior surfaces of the aircraft are not overlooked either, including the engines;
• When necessary, in winter conditions, de-icing is performed;
• The final result is what matters – when you step on board, you should be greeted by a pleasant atmosphere and a fresh scent. Whether the employees have done their job perfectly is determined by inspectors.That is why, as professionals, World Aviation Solutions carefully select responsible people for their staff and provide high-quality training before they begin work. To the attention of MRO and airlines: This is our new Drain Starter adapter

We’re proud to present you our new product – a Drain Starter Adapter with PN: 2G7899.
Starter is located on right hand side of the engine fan section. Its role is to convert the bleed air to potential power and turns the engine shafts.
And here comes the role of the Drain Starter Adapter.
It’s is one of the most important tools for engineers. Usually, the adapter is of the flyaway kit of the aircraft engine. Its main function is to transfer the power from the starter motor to the engine. The idea is to order to turn it over and start.
The starter adapter works in conjunction with the starter motor to crank the engine. When the starter motor is activated, it spins and causes the shaft of the starter adapter to rotate.
Said in simple words, it removes the oil from the engine.

We in WAS continue to update our products’ database. You can find the Drain Starter Adapter by clicking here.

What is FOD and why do airlines need the covers of WAS?

When an aircraft is grounded engineers and crew meet different challenges. They meet the challenges of weather conditions, as well as the whole situation of the airfield.
You never know from where a foreign object such as nails or nylon will fly around the machine. Suddenly it may come into the engine and bring damages from different scale.
That’s why each airline must check for FOD (Foreign object debris) around its aircraft. Usually, at each airport there are recycle bins where these debris are being thrown. But sometimes they could be brought by the wind when you less expect.

To be sure that all the parts are protected you need the covers of WAS. Our new Bulgarian company offer all types of covers which you could brows here.
We offer engine covers, pitot probe covers, inlet cover, cover for static probes, etc.
The only thing you have to do to protect your aircraft is to order all of the covers you need from us!

With baby during fun could be fun and safety! If the airline secures it!

With baby during fun could be fun and safety! Of course, if the airline secures it!
One of the main principles each aviation company follows is “Safety first”. Especially for these little creatures. They should be even more protected than us.
What is a loop belt?Each mom should know that the baby must be carried in arms during the flight.
For the safety of the baby, a loop belt will be used. This belt must be used during takeoff and landing, and when the seatbelt sign is illuminated. The loop belt being brought by the cabin crew members. This happens upon boarding and must be returned after the flight.Why do you need the Infant Spare Belt Bag of WAS?
First of all, it’s manufactured in Bulgaria. Our Spare Belt Bag is made of high-quality materials that meet all the international standards. It’s big enough and compact at the same time.

2 reasons that you need a Cover for Static Probe

Yesterday we presented you our Cover for Static Probe with PN: 98D10103500001.
Essential part for the aviation safety
This tool is a required part from the aircraft protective equipment. Especially if it’s parked on the ground or waiting for turnaround.
Why do you need Cover for Static Probe?
The main reason is that an eventual obstruction will bring to wrong calculation of data parameters from its measurements. For example, debris in the probe will make airspeed and Mach number to “play”.
Even such tiny particles of sand, dirt, dust or insect may play a significant role.

How to explain this?
If such debris fall into the hole where the Cover for Static Probe should be placed, this will make a bad favor to the engineers or pilots. They would not be able to measure the exact pressure.
That’s the main reasons you need Cove Static Probes. You could offer them here.
